What defines a relaxed sunday?

Sunday is synonymous with chilling out. Sunday is the only weekend most people get here in India.
Imagine a light, breezy Sunday, waking up late in the morning, lazily getting ready to be out and about in town, traveling for hours, hanging out with your best friend talking about nothing over the tastiest food. There is another joy in getting unexpected gifts, in being cared for, realizing that you are loved, doing stupid things and laughing about them later, realizing how far you have come from the person you used to be.
It is a mixed feeling is it not? When you are annoyed and grateful for something, like when parents care for you, they worry and annoy you with their rules and advice, but they only want what is best for you. It also is unexplainable feeling when you realize how old you are, independent to make decisions, free to do whatever it is you want yet burdened by responsibilities, wiser to know what battles to fight for.
Meditation is different for different people. For some, cooking may feel like meditating, being absorbed in the art of creating something, for me, it is driving around, listening to music, feeling the breeze on my face, deep in thoughts reflecting upon the world.
There is another joy of getting to know someone, opening up, revisiting sad and happy memories of life. Is that why we like meeting new people? The excitement of getting to know a new person? is that why the human library has become such a successful thing?

Read Something Positive Today

King’s cage- Book

It was an okay book, the previous books have been better as I remember. I did think this was the last book, so it was kind of a disappointment to realize there is one more year to wait. Maven was fascinating, this book felt long and satisfying. The characters were well built,  I do like maven and mare better together, what’s wrong with me?

Victoria did a good job, giving us enough time with maven and mare, the conversations, the insight, the war, everything was good. The insight into maven’s head, into Evangeline’s, I still can’t hate maven.

Mare is not in love with Maven, and I am sure she is going to be the one to kill him, and it will kill me. I understand cal’s and mare’s love, but Cal does not have that passion for mare,
the parts where Maven tells us how his mother destroyed him, on why he is the way he is, it moved me, that is the reason any of us feel any pity for him, he was not born evil, he was just made empty, this book is magnificent, the characters are fantastic, This book won’t be my favourite but I did enjoy reading it a lot.

I loved this line-

“I’m not a fool, little lightning girl. If you’re going to play in my head, I’m going to play in yours. It’s what we’re good at.”
“Somewhere in the distance, somewhere in my bones, thunder rolls.”

This book had everything, politics, imprisonment, love, hatred, twisted betrayals, terror, everything, so many new characters, I remembered glass sword and shade, my heart went out every time he was mentioned, I loved him, broke my heart for Farley.

“The pain makes you stronger. Love makes you weak.”

Maven, i do agree is great at being a king, evil but his strategies, his wanting of mare, his decisions, everything, the villain here, maven is simply heart breaking, victoria aveyard is a genius. Mare’s character is deep and wise in this book, she thinks through, feels for others, is smarter and less selfish, she knows what she wants and when to stand up for herself. i love her sassiness.
Cal is too soft, too nice probably, i dont think i would be able to forgive him for marrying evangeline, he saved mare but he broke her as well.

The part with mare and cal was sweet, her family, kilorn is awesome! the training everything, it was sweet and refreshing from all the war and punishments.

evangeline and elaine’s love, her love for her brother tolly, i loved the chapters from her viewpoint, she is stuck doing things she does not want to. i hope her parents die and she and her brother get to rule, i hope she stands up for her love.

“Be the best, the strongest, the smartest, the most deadly and the most cunning. The most worthy. And I was everything.”

Evangeline, everything that happens to her also breaks my heart, all the politics that all these characters have to endure, i wish this world was simpler, where beautiful naive hearts could exist. Farley is someone i aspire to be, she is badass, when she stands up in front of her father, whoa! man she has guts and a spine. When mare bonds with julians’ books, turns out i do not like anabel, she is a bitch, she is a grandmother and wants whats best for her grandson but still a silver bitch, sara and everyone is great, her voice comes back yay! I like evangeline’s mother’s ability, she is badass, evil but animals are such a cool power to have, Davidson i had reservations about him but he won my heart during the war.

I did not exactly identify with cameron, but it brought a different take on this book, where everyone was power hungry and all casual in a way about killing, cameron, a kid and powerful, but unwilling to be in a war. I wish i could read the last book a little sooner, waiting for another year, to know how it all goes down, another year without this world, damn.

This is a great series, definitely a must read for people who like YA Fantasy.

Weekend Read

  1.  AnaOno’s NYFW show incredibly used Breast Cancer Survivors to walk the runway.

Designer Dana Donofree, during this NYFW, used breast cancer survivors and women battling the disease to showcase its collection. 16 women walked the runway,

The designer herself is a survivor and probably wanted to bring this disease to the forefront more so than it is, surviving the disease has immensely inspired and pushed her. Its incredible, surviving a battle within your own body, hats off.

The message by Ericka Hart was fantastic before the show.

She wrote: “I want to say this is a dream come true, but really it’s a dream I gave up on many moons ago. Leaned into the often vocal thoughts that I was ugly, flat-footed (yes someone told me this), not the right this or that to be a model. So, I am walking this weekend for the folks who have been told they couldn’t. Walking for the folks who gave up on dreams. Walking for the little black girl who thought she had to center whiteness to be beautiful. Walking for the chronic illness patient who believed all they had to look forward to was death. Walking for the queer people of color still seeking recognition for inventing runway in the first place. I will be walking for @anaonointimates, and you better believe there will be a strut topless.”

Dono must have made a huge difference in these women’s lives, given them a memory and power they will never forget.

Ignoring Trump, Maine has been warm and welcoming to refugees against racism and everything.

Safi Paulo (center) is surrounded by her children shortly after returning home from work, checking Facebook on her smartphone while chatting with her sister-in-law Yalla Kaluta (not shown) and relaxing in the kitchen in the family’s home in Thomaston.

A small town in Maine has welcomed probably the only black family amidst a sea of whites, refugees at that, after the family confessed how isolated they felt, over 70 people reached out tot hem to make them feel more a part of the society.

This town has a population of around 2700 people.

They have now been bombarded with emails from all over offering help.

Someone offered land on their farm in nearby Union for the family to cultivate starting in the spring.

A couple from the area with young children proposed to get together so the kids could play with each other.

A Catholic Church in nearby Camden reached out to say it would like to be involved with the family members, who are Catholic.

The head of a rowing program in Rockland told me she could teach the family to row when the weather improves.

And an employee of Maine Immigrant and Refugee Services, a non-profit in Lewiston that provides literacy programs and counseling to new arrivals, offered to help the family relocate to Portland or Lewiston, should they ever decide to leave the Thomaston area.

There have also been offers to babysit, teach English and driving, and to donate books, toys, and art supplies.

Not a single person has written to Coe with a negative comment.

Affirmations for 2017

  • Here are some encouraging words I read that surely inspired me. Step into the world, make your dreams come true, stop thinking and do what you want to. you become what you believe.Every year, most of us are hoping for change.Even when things are going very well for us, there’s always something we want to improve, some things we want to work on.

    • Today I will work on seeing only the positives. I will block out negative thinking.
    • I radiate positive energy.
    • It’s easy to meet people. I attract positive and kind people into my life.
    • I am courageous. I am willing to act in spite of any fear.
    • The biggest and most complex obstacle I will ever have to overcome is my mind.  If I can overcome that, I can overcome anything.
    • I cannot control exactly what happens in life, but I can control how I respond to it all.  In my response is my greatest power
    • I will stop focusing on how stressed I am and remember how blessed I am.  Complaining won’t change my reality, but a positive attitude will
    • Instead of getting angry, I will find the lesson.  In place of envy, I will feel admiration.  In place of worry, I will take positive action.  In place of doubt, I will have faith.
    • I will focus on making myself better, not on thinking I am better
    • Happiness does not start when ‘this, that or the other’ thing is resolved.  Happiness is what happens now, when I make the best of what I have
